Taiwan’s First Space Sci-Fi Film “Space Journey” — Combining LED Virtual Production with VFX to Realistically Portray the Cosmos

Adapted from the hit graphic novel The Black Box, Space Journey marks Taiwan’s first-ever space science fiction film. Co-produced by LINE Taiwan and TWR Entertainment, Inc., the anthology series brings four fan-favorite chapters to life, with Space Journey premiering globally on LINE TV and Netflix starting October 31.

Directed by Charles Chao-Hua Lee, the production aimed to recreate the vastness of space through LED Virtual Production at FTV’s studio. FTV chose to use the VIVE Mars CamTrack system as the spacecraft set was built with a roof, requiring a compact and flexible tracking solution. The portable design allowed the crew to reposition base stations and reset the tracking volume with a single click, ensuring smooth operation within a confined space.

Starring Meng-Po Fu as an astronaut, Space Journey combines LED environments, Mars CamTrack tracking, and high-end VFX to transport viewers on a breathtaking voyage across Saturn’s rings, marking a major milestone for Taiwan’s film industry.
